Hypothetically, there was a 10-year-old girl who was walking along the side of the road one morning. She was on her way to church, which was just down the street. Her parents were already there.
Hypothetically, some depraved, horrible person hit this little girl with their car. The child went sailing into a ditch..broken and battered, but not dead. But that bastard driving the car didn't stop. For some godforsaken reason, they didn't stop. And that little girl sat in a ditch in 40 degree weather...conscious and suffering for over an hour before her parents found her.
Hypothetically, the little girl was rushed to the hospital where she died a short time later from exposure and internal bleeding.
It's been a rough morning, bloglit. Hug your children if you've got them.

I had another traffic later in the day...a teenager... When it rains it pours.
My diabetic daughter will get her learner's permit in six months, if her doc signs permission that she keeps her BG under control.
Instead of chatting about whatever, I've been pointing out all the things to watch out for, road conditions, light conditions, other drivers, God, the other drivers out there who could kill my kid. It's the other drivers you have to watch out for, especially if you see them weaving or using a cell phone.

pond scum!!!
I went to hug my child and my wife shooed me away...
Granted, he's not due to be born for another 2 months and she's trying to get some work done, but still....
i resent that!
Polly,
What probability would you give that the driver who killed that little girl was DUI?
*hugs dog* (Well, I did last night before I read this anyway)
loki: they are often drunk, of course, but just as often they're just reckless, on the phone, lighting a cigarette, speeding, etc.
We've had a rash of hit & runs around here lately it seems. I just can't understand how you can keep going when you hit someone.
Of course, there was the 92 year old guy in Florida driving with someone hanging out of his windshield, but he probably didn't even know that he was alive.
Sorry you had to deal with this, Polly.
Polly, we just had another one here a couple of days ago. A 70 year old woman was run down. They found the car abandoned later, which really makes you wonder what these idiots are thinking. You know they're going to get caught in the end.
Oh no. Terrible. So sad.
There are a couple positives to this, however bittersweet: she didn't die in the ditch and her parents were with her. And where she is right now, she's safe.
No postings in over a week (31 Oct now). Must have been a VERY bad day for Polly!
